BIRME

BIRME is a free, browser-based bulk image resizer that processes files locally rather than uploading them to a server, aimed at people who need to resize many images quickly without installing software. Beyond basic resizing, it supports smart cropping with automatic focal-point detection or a manually drawn crop region per image, batch renaming with custom patterns, watermarks, borders, and export to JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF. Two AI-powered tools run in the same workflow: a background remover that cuts out the main subject and exports a transparent PNG or WebP, and a super-resolution upscaler that enlarges small images by 2x, 3x, or 4x before export — both processed in the browser using a locally cached AI model rather than uploading images elsewhere. BIRME reports more than 50,000 monthly users and has been running since 2013; a newer companion tool, BIRME PDF, extends the same private, in-browser approach to editing, combining, and annotating PDFs.
