Void, built by Y Combinator-backed Glass Devtools, Inc., is an open-source AI code editor that lets developers write code with AI assistance while maintaining data privacy and control. Built as a fork of VS Code, it allows seamless transfer of themes, keybindings, and settings, and offers Tab autocomplete for AI-powered code suggestions, Quick Edit for inline code modification through selection, and multiple chat modes including Agent Mode, Gather Mode, and standard chat. Void supports both private local LLMs (Ollama, DeepSeek, Llama) and frontier models (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, Grok), and includes checkpoints for changes, lint error detection, Fill-In-the-Middle model support, and performance handling for large files.
