Workiva AI

Workiva AI is the set of AI capabilities built into the Workiva platform, a cloud-based system used by finance, audit, risk, and sustainability teams to manage financial reporting and compliance workflows (including SEC filings, ESG/sustainability disclosures, and governance, risk, and compliance documentation). Rather than being a standalone chatbot, it's embedded directly into the reporting and document-management workflows Workiva customers already use. Workiva has introduced purpose-built AI agents for specific reporting tasks: a Tie-Out Agent that checks financial reports for discrepancies and generates explanations for variances with a documented audit trail, a Benchmarking Agent that analyzes publicly filed peer data from SEC 10-K and 10-Q filings to help teams build peer groups and identify disclosure gaps, and a Sustainability Disclosure Agent that drafts and checks ESG disclosures against ESRS and ISSB standards, producing gap assessments and compliance scorecards. These sit on top of Workiva Knowledge, a persistent intelligence layer that grounds the agents' outputs in an organization's own filings, policies, and historical reporting data rather than general web knowledge. Workiva AI is aimed at enterprise finance, audit, controllership, risk, and sustainability teams handling high-stakes, regulator-facing reporting, where traceability and auditability matter as much as speed. Because it's built for regulated reporting, the AI agents emphasize showing their work (source citations, audit trails, gap assessments) rather than fully automating judgment calls, and the newer agent capabilities are generally available to customers on Workiva's more advanced solution tiers rather than included in every plan.
