Agents can register and create inboxes via a proof-of-work challenge with no verification, credit card, or domain configuration required. It uses JMAP (JSON Mail Access Protocol), an IETF standard LLMs inherently understand, enabling native API call generation, with self-documenting errors and hints for autonomous debugging. Integration options include MCP servers for chat-based agents, an AgentSkill for shell-capable agents, and direct JMAP API access, with agents operating on @atomicmail.ai addresses or custom domains without needing a human email address — enabling multi-agent coordination where agents communicate with each other and humans via email as a message bus.
