ContextMCP, built by payments company Dodo Payments to solve their own operational needs, is a self-hosted documentation indexing system that keeps AI agents informed with current information aggregated from multiple sources. It uses AST-aware chunking — parsing abstract syntax trees to preserve code logic and semantic boundaries — avoiding the fragmented context that naive text splitting produces. Scheduled updates maintain fresh documentation on a regular cadence, eliminating stale-data problems, and the system runs on Cloudflare Workers for edge-native, low-latency access. Setup requires zero configuration beyond dropping a config file into a repository. ContextMCP is fully self-hosted and open source, giving teams complete data ownership with the ability to fork and customize.
