The Codex plugin for Claude Code lets Claude Code users invoke OpenAI's Codex — for code reviews or to delegate work — without leaving their existing Claude Code workflow, rather than switching to a separate Codex session. It adds a set of slash commands: /codex:review for a standard, read-only Codex code review of uncommitted changes or a branch diff, /codex:adversarial-review for a steerable, more skeptical review that pressure-tests design decisions and specific risk areas (like auth, data loss, or race conditions) rather than just checking code details, and /codex:rescue, /codex:transfer, /codex:status, /codex:result, and /codex:cancel for delegating tasks to Codex, managing background jobs, and handing off sessions. It requires a ChatGPT subscription (including the free tier) or an OpenAI API key, plus Node.js 18.18+, and usage counts against the user's existing Codex usage limits. Installation is via Claude Code's own plugin marketplace system (/plugin marketplace add, /plugin install), followed by a /codex:setup command that checks readiness and can install the standalone Codex CLI automatically if needed.
