Localforge

Localforge, built by independent development team Rockbite, is a desktop application that functions as an autonomous AI agent for software development, letting users work on substantial coding projects entirely on their local machine without cloud dependencies. It plugs into any LLM — OpenAI, Gemini, local models — and directly modifies code files and executes shell commands on the user's system, with code, secrets, and git history never leaving the machine. An Electron-based GUI provides tabs and visual diffs, a built-in task tracking system shows agent reasoning and execution steps, and prompting templates can be customized and reused.
